Our commitment
Home Organizer DC is committed to making homeorganizerdc.com accessible to the widest possible audience, including people with disabilities. We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 at Level AA, the standard adopted by the U.S. Department of Justice for ADA Title III compliance.
What we do
- Semantic HTML. Every page uses proper heading hierarchy, landmark regions, and meaningful element types so screen readers can navigate the structure.
- Alt text. Every photograph and decorative image has descriptive alt text or is correctly marked as decorative.
- Keyboard navigation. Every interactive element on the site can be reached and operated using only the keyboard. Focus indicators are visible.
- Color contrast. Body text exceeds the WCAG AA contrast requirement of 4.5:1. Headings and large text exceed 3:1.
- Reduced motion. If your operating system signals a preference for reduced motion, our animations are disabled.
- Form labels. Every form field has an associated label and inline error messaging. Errors are announced to assistive technology.
- Responsive layout. The site reflows correctly at 320px wide and at 400% browser zoom without horizontal scrolling.
What we're still working on
We test against WCAG AA quarterly and fix issues as we find them. Known limitations as of this writing:
- Some before-and-after slider components are not yet keyboard-operable. We are migrating to an accessible alternative that supports keyboard and screen-reader interaction.
- A few archive blog images from before 2024 may have generic alt text. We are auditing and replacing these.
Service accessibility
Beyond the website, we want our services to be accessible:
- Walkthroughs can be conducted with a family member or caretaker present.
- We provide written estimates and scopes in large-print PDFs upon request.
- For senior clients with cognitive challenges, we offer shorter, more frequent sessions (90 minutes maximum) and ICD-trained organizers.
- We coordinate with caregivers, occupational therapists, and family decision-makers as needed.
- Spanish-language services are available through our lead senior move manager.

Reporting accessibility problems
If you find an accessibility barrier on the website, please tell us. We try to fix reported issues within ten business days for high-impact items and within 30 days for everything else.
Email the issue to hello@homeorganizerdc.com with the subject “Accessibility issue.” Include the URL of the page, the device and browser you're using, and a short description of what didn't work. We respond to every report.
Third-party content
Embedded third-party content (map widgets, social-platform embeds, payment processor pages) may not always meet WCAG AA. We choose vendors who prioritize accessibility, and we provide a non-embedded alternative wherever possible (the map widget, for example, has a plain-text address link).
