How do I get a written estimate?

Send the contact form, call us, or email Sarah directly. We reply within one business day. The first reply usually includes a written scope and a price range built from your inquiry details and any photos you sent. If the project needs a quick phone call to finalize, we'll book that. There is no deposit to receive an estimate, and estimates are always free.

How far out is your calendar?

Accepted Answer

For most projects, two to three weeks. Senior moves with a hard CCRC closing date and federal-relocation unpacks with a fixed PCS date get triaged forward. If your project has a deadline, tell us in the first message and we will usually find a way.

Question 3

Can I reschedule once we've booked?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We ask for 72 hours' notice on schedule changes so we can reslot the crew. Same-week emergencies happen and we work with them. We do not charge a reschedule fee unless we've already pre-purchased product and you cancel inside 48 hours.

How long does a typical project take?

A single walk-in closet runs one day. A full pantry plus kitchen runs one to two days. A whole-home organization is two to four days, split across consecutive weeks if the family needs to stay functional during. A full move-in unpack is 36 to 48 hours. A senior downsize is two to six weeks depending on the size of the origin home.

Who actually shows up to the project?

Always two to four organizers, never one. You get a named lead organizer for the project who runs the room from start to finish. Sarah is on-site for senior moves and for any project larger than 30 organizer-hours. We introduce your lead organizer by email before project day so you know who to expect.

Question 6

How do you price a project?

Accepted Answer

Hourly per organizer, plus the wholesale cost of any product we install. Most projects have two to four organizers on site, so an eight-hour day moves through the equivalent of 16 to 32 organizer-hours. We give you a written, not-to-exceed estimate after a short phone or email back-and-forth about the rooms and your timeline. See our pricing page for current ranges.

Is product marked up?

Accepted Answer

No. We pass through baskets, bins, drawer dividers, custom closet systems, and labeling at our wholesale cost with no markup. You see the line items. The only thing we mark up is our labor, and that's the hourly rate quoted upfront.

Do you require a deposit?

Accepted Answer

A 25% deposit secures the project on the calendar, applied to the first day's work. The balance is invoiced at completion. For senior moves we sometimes structure as 25 / 50 / 25 across phases. Card, ACH, and check accepted.

Question 9

Do you bill by project or by hour?

Accepted Answer

We quote a not-to-exceed ceiling. Inside that ceiling, we bill the actual hours used. If we finish in 22 organizer-hours when the estimate said 28, you pay for 22. We do not bill the ceiling regardless of finish time. The estimate is a cap, not a target.

Question 10

Will my project go over budget?

We engineer for it not to. If we discover scope changes during the project (the storage room behind the closet, the unmarked boxes in the attic), we stop and reprice in writing before we proceed. No surprises on the invoice.

What's not in scope?

Accepted Answer

Closet construction (drywall, electrical, demo) is not us. We partner with a Bethesda-based carpenter for built-ins and bring in licensed help when needed. We do not do commercial offices, retail back-of-house, or pure packing for an outbound move. Unpacking, yes; packing, no.

Do you only do KonMari?

We use a KonMari-informed method but we are not KonMari purists. Rachel and Sarah have read everything Marie Kondo has published, and they steal what works. For ADHD-friendly systems, we lean ICD methodology. For senior moves, NASMM protocols. The right method depends on the client.

Do you work with hoarding situations?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Sarah is ICD-CPO certified specifically for chronic disorganization, which includes hoarding-spectrum work. We have trauma-informed protocols, we never force decisions, and we coordinate with mental health professionals when appropriate. Reach out and we'll talk honestly about fit.

Can you organize while we're at work?

Yes. About a third of our clients give us key access and we work while they're at the office or out of town. We carry two million in general liability coverage, every team member is background-checked and bonded, and we send a same-day photo recap of every session.

Do you have a referral program?

Accepted Answer

Yes. If you refer a friend who books a project of 20+ organizer-hours, you get a meaningful credit toward your next session or tune-up — ask Linda for the current amount when you refer. Most of our work comes from referrals. We don't run paid ads beyond a small Google budget.

Question 16

What's your service area?

Accepted Answer

Washington DC (all wards), Montgomery County, MD (Bethesda, Chevy Chase, Potomac, Rockville, Silver Spring, North Bethesda), and Northern Virginia inside the I-495 / I-66 corridor (Arlington, Alexandria, McLean, Fairfax, Vienna, Reston, Falls Church, Ashburn). Twenty-five miles from our M Street office is our standard footprint.

Do you charge a travel fee?

Not inside the 25-mile core service area. For projects beyond (Frederick MD, Loudoun-far-west, Stafford VA, southern Anne Arundel), we add a flat travel surcharge based on distance. We tell you the exact number in the written estimate.

Question 18

Do you handle moves between jurisdictions?

Accepted Answer

Yes. About a quarter of our move-in concierge projects are interstate. We coordinate with your mover (we have preferred local mover partners), handle the unpack on the receiving end, and route boxes and packing material out. We do not drive trucks ourselves.

Question 19

Do you work in apartments and condos?

Accepted Answer

Constantly. About 40% of our DC and Arlington projects are condos and apartments. We coordinate with building management on elevator reservations, freight access, and donation-pickup logistics. We know which downtown buildings allow which days.

Question 20

What about second homes or estates?

Accepted Answer

Yes, including out-of-DMV estate cleanouts. We've worked St. Michaels, Rehoboth, the Eastern Shore, and Tilghman Island. For estates, we typically run a multi-day project with a hauler partner on retainer.
